I remember voting for Bacon before souring on him about a decade ago. I chose him over Avercamp and Audobon! Those were the days!
ReplyDeleteBut alas, he won't even make my top 4 this time. Those will go to Chase, Kiefer, de Hooch, and Bonnington.
Bonington, Fragonard, De Hooch, Chase.
ReplyDeleteWilliam Merritt Chase, Anselm Kiefer.

And I'm just going to get in here myself to get Dufy on the board because, cheerful. Also De Hooch and I suppose Chase.
ReplyDeleteBacon by far, and I'll also throw in a vote for Bonington.

ReplyDeleteDe Hooch, Bonington, Kiefer, Chase
ReplyDeleteVOTES: Bonington, Dufy (yes cheerful -- we need cheerful), De Hooch & Chase
ReplyDeleteBacon: The Horror, then Bonington SAD that he only lived to be 26 -- what a waste of a fine talent. Re Chase, the second painting. There is a place where you can walk down into Riverside Park, with steps & then a wall curving down, that is very like that painting. I checked on Google -- Chase could easily have been in Riverside Park & painted that very spot!
And lastly, Becca says "Not wild about any of them this time. The first electrocution one made me feel the most- though it was surely uncomfortable. So if I must choose one it is that one."
