Here's the second match of the Left Bracket Sixth Round! Ms. Gentileschi (7-1, 66-35, .653) has been taking care of herself in the Left Bracket for a while. She has just dispatched Caspar Friedrich (5-2, 60-28, .682), whose record makes him the second highest ranking artist of everyone who has left the Tournament, behind only the elusive Antonella da Messina.
Thomas Hart Benton, in addition to surviving the play-in Tournament, has put together an impressive main tournament record (5-1-1, 51-31, .622). He is here after losing to Remedios Varo.
Artemisia Gentileschi
1593 - 1652
Italian
Artemisia Gentileschi was an early Italian Baroque painter, and the only female follower of Caravaggio, whom she worked with in Italy in the early 17th century. Her innovative compositions and focus on Biblical heroines set her apart from her male contemporaries and have lead to the celebration of Gentileschi as a painter with a uniquely female perspective.

Gentileschi
I'm going to back Benton in this one.
Gentileschi. Looking at the Bentons gave me some pause, though. I wonder if I'm biased against him because I didn't much care for that painting that wasn't actually by him, and now I can't get that out of my mind when thinking about him.
Off with his head, Gentileschi!
Benton
Go Gentileschi!
Susan votes for Benton in this one.
Well... you know what? Benton, that's what. In terms of my vote, that is.
Gentileschi.
And we'll call this one at five votes for Gentileschi, four for Benton. Benton will take on... somebody! ...next week!
