Left Bracket Fifth Round Elimination continues with this match pairing Norman Rockwell (6-1, 64-24, .727) against Pablo Picasso (7-1, 69-28, .711). About which, I don't think there's much to say beyond: Norman Rockwell! Against Pablo Picasso!
Norman Rockwell
1894 - 1978
American
Rockwell was a careful craftsman with an ability to represent detail realistically. The subjects of most of his illustrations were taken from everyday family and small-town life and were often treated with a touch of humour. Though loved by the public, Rockwell’s work was dismissed by most critics as lacking artistic merit and authentic social observation.

Pablo Picasso
1881 - 1973
Spanish
Pablo Picasso [was] one of the greatest and most-influential artists of the 20th century and the creator (with Georges Braque) of Cubism. The enormous body of Picasso’s work remains, and the legend lives on—a tribute to the vitality of the “disquieting” Spaniard with the “sombre…piercing” eyes who superstitiously believed that work would keep him alive. For nearly 80 of his 91 years, Picasso devoted himself to an artistic production that contributed significantly to and paralleled the whole development of modern art in the 20th century.

Picasso!
Rockwell.
I'm going to say Rockwell even though I know in my heart that Picasso was a better artist.
Here are four count'em four votes from the Facebooks: Mariah, Laura, Matt, and Jen P.!
Four votes, but for whom? Michael5K is silent on the issue.
I'm also going to say Rockwell even though I know in my heart that Picasso was a better artist.
I'm ready to break the silence. Those four votes were for Picasso.
I don't think I would say for sure Picasso is the better artist. Rockwell's details and lighting are incredible. I would say that Picasso is definitely the more innovative painter, but does that make him better? This is a hard decision, as light as Rockwell can be, I'd say many of his paintings tell much more interesting stories than Picasso's paintings. On the other hand, Picasso's figures themselves are more interesting. What's an IAT voter to do? I guess I'll go just slightly to Picasso.
Susan picks Picasso! She rocks... Picasso!
Picasso.
Rockwell.
I'm going to say Picasso even though I know in my heart that Picasso was a better artist.
The Clash of the Twentieth-Century Titans ends here, and it ends with Pablo Picasso standing tall amongst the wreckage. Norm Rockwell certainly won a place in our hearts, though, and he CERTAINLY WON A PLACE IN FUTURE ART HISTORY COMPILATIONS. I'm looking at you lot, Phaidon.
Oh, nine votes to four, but who's counting. Oh! I guess I am.
