ReplyDeleteGhirlandaio has all the virtues you'd expect from your Renaissance Florence, except...well...don't his large scenes seem a bit...cluttered? A little too carried away with their whiz-bang constructed perspectives? You certainly can't make the same complaint about Turner, who was all about sweeping things away and letting the light in. I'll go with him.
