The Infinite Art Tournament Left Bracket Third-Round Elimination: Sisley v. van Ruisdael!

Jacob van Ruisdael lost his first Tournament contest to Rachel Ruysch, but he didn't throw down his paintbrushes; he's won four in a row to make it to Third Round Elimination. He'll face a challenge here against Alfred Sisley, however, who has struggled through to a 4-1-1 record of his own, with his most recent win coming against -- wait for it! -- Rachel Ruysch. Does that mean Sisley will win? OF COURSE IT DOESN'T!!! We have to find out! That's why we vote!

Leaving us this week with excellent 2-2 records are Ruysch (19 vf, 23 va, .452) and Dante Gabriel Rossetti (24-21, .533).

Alfred Sisley

Jacob van Ruisdael

  1. Likely if this was the first matchup of the tournament, I'd vote for van Ruisdael, but at this point I feel like we've seen Dutch Masters that Dutch Master better than he does, which biases me enough that I'll vote Sisley.

  2. I'm with Sisley, myself, for the same reasons as Morgan.

  3. I like landscapes, especially if they have a strong human element. Sisley's are townier, more optimistic and personal. He's got my vote.

  4. Ruisdael's are just a bit too dour for me. Sisley.

  5. Oooh, I like both. Can we vote on someone else still in the tournament who's still in but who we hate to leave so both of these can continue? But if I gotta vote, Ruisdael

  8. The remarkably effect FB quorum call also turned up three more Sisleys and a Ruisdael.

  9. Wow, what a turnout! If there was only some way I could put EVERY match on Facebook. Wait, I do!

In any event, Sisley dominated this match, topping Ruisdael eleven votes to five. So, it will be Sisley moving to the next Round to take on Rosa.
