Both feel like solid round two painters not worthy of round 3 for very different reasons. Waterhouse's are just a bit too much at times, so I'll vote to carry that weight to the third round.
Out flew the web and floated wide; The mirror cracked from side to side; "The curse is come upon me," cried The Lady of Shalott.
So honestly, I think that Waterhouse is frightfully precious. On the other hand, since I've aged out of the possibility of being cool, that no longer constitutes the kiss of death. And this other fellow doesn't seem to know how to draw. So I'll go with Mr. Waterhouse.
It looks like Waterhouse prevails into the Third Round, where he'll go head to head with Van der Weyden. In a Tournament of interesting matches, that one seems even more interesting than most.
Weight heads to the left side and will try to regain his momentum against the winner of West/Wilkie.

Weight
ReplyDeleteWeight - but I like both!
ReplyDeleteI like Carel's grittier, more prosaic choice of subjects, but I'll go with Waterhouse as hands-down a more accomplished painter.

ReplyDeleteI agree with all that Mrs. 5000 said. Waterhouse.
ReplyDeleteWeight. Waterhouse is a good painter but his paintings are so empty.
ReplyDeleteWaterhouse!
ReplyDeleteWeight. I like both alright, though.
