On Thursday, we'll see how George Bellows does against Ingres; the winner of that one will take on the winner of the Reni/Bouguereau match that started about five weeks ago. ReplyDeleteSee, this is a tough 'un because it pits a guy with a loveable shtick against a guy who is probably a superior artist, but whose versitility renders him a little less immediately interesting. To vote for Avercamp, for me, would be essentially voting for my own ability to identify and enjoy an Avercamp. So this time I'll go for Mr. Jordaens.
ReplyDeleteBut although Jordaens got some attention late in the game, it looks like it wasn't enough to prevail against Avercamp's big lead. He'll leave the Tourney with an enviable 3-2-1 record, and Avercamp joins Jan Bruegel as one of the few artists to make it into Third Round elimination after losing their opening match. How far can he go? We'll find out!
