ReplyDeleteWell, sometimes it's easy. Vermeer.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of those match-ups that I needlessly agonize over, since it'll probably be Vemeer in a landslide- but not for me. I find Vieriera de Silva's works quite interesting and distinctive. I'm also kind of bothered by how circular the face is of the girl in the bottom Vermeer. But so many of those Vermeer scenes: totallly dutchtastic. And I do like his use of strong colors in these somewhat dingy scenes. Which is a long way of saying I'll also be going with Vermeer.
ReplyDeleteVieriera de Silva for me. Vermeer is meh.
ReplyDeleteVermeer, but not off of any large weakness of the other artist.
ReplyDeleteda Silva!

ReplyDeleteThe most soulful painter since God's Jan Vermeer"
Susan, also, votes for Vermeer.
ReplyDeleteVermeer.
ReplyDeleteYay, Vermeer! If I do say so myself. Which I do, but I'm just one of the nine votes here. Viera da Silva only had two.
