I'm sure I would like the Twomblys a lot if I could see them in an art gallery. The environment tends to make me see stuff that's questionably art as art. But this isn't an art gallery, and I'm voting Turner.
I always want to like Twombly just because of sentimental associations with the name (which is used as the name of a town in a favorite book of mine), but wow, no. Turner, please.
Voting in the Infinite Art Tournament? Awesome. And, please be aware that purely anonymous votes are not counted. You don't need to log in or use your real name, but you must identify yourself in some fashion for your vote to count.

ReplyDeleteI vote twelve thousand times for Turner! Still have never seen a reproduction of any of his paintings that can do justice to the originals.

ReplyDeleteTurner lays a 14-1 beating on Twombly, and will advance to take on Toulouse-Latrec in Round 2.
