Tissot
Tissot. There's nothing wrong with fashion illustration paintings, I suppose. I liked seeing his work in London.
Both artists seem to like their paintings busy, but Tintoretto is a bit too dramatic for me. I'll go Tissot.
I like both! Tissot.
Tintoretto.
Tintoretto. Does anyone know what the four glass things are in Tissot's picnic scene? I'd think they were wine bottles but they have pointy ends.
Definitely Tintoretto! Though now the picnic with the glass juggling society has my attention, it can't hold a candle to the war-torn annunciation scene.
Thoughts on The first picture: (1) How many cherubim do you NEED to pull off an annunciation? (2) You don't usually see Mary looking quite so... butch in the Western tradition.... (3) ...and she's just, like, chilling out in a palatial bed chamber that is miraculously intact in the ruins of post-War Austria, or something?
On first blush, I'm pretty lukewarm on both of these lads.
Susan votes for Tissot.
Tintoretto!
Tissot.
Tissot scores a big upset here, beating Tintoretto by a margin of six votes to four.
