The Infinite Art Tournament, Round FOUR: Prud'hon v. Raphael!

Time for a Fourth Round match to kick off the month!  This one pits Prud'hon, who brings in a cumulative 25-8 voting record, against Raphael, who has a 25-8 voting record of his own.  Does that mean they are likely to tie?  Maybe!

Pierre-Paul Prud'hon
1758 - 1823
French
  • Drubbed Francesco Primaticcio in Round 1.
  • Beat Sir Henry Raeburn in Round 2.
  • Defeated Nicolas Poussin in Round 3 by a two-vote swing. YOUR VOTE COUNTS!

Raphael
1483 - 1520
Italian

  1. Raphael! Because, you know, he made it all so damn beautiful.

  3. Prud'hon, although the second and fourth Raphaels are incredibly solid

  5. I dunno. It goes against the grain to vote against Raphael, but I'm feeling the love for Prud'hon today.

  6. So I've never been much of a Raphael fan especially, and I haven't looked at this post for a while, and scrolling upwards from the bottom I was all like "WHO IS THIS GUY?!? THESE PAINTINGS ARE AMAZING!!!" And then I got to the Prud'hon, and it was like, "oh yeah, I kind of like Prud'hon!"

To sum up: RAFAEL ALL THE WAY!!

  7. ...and it was Raphael all the way, with seven votes to Prud'hon's four. Raphael will be taking on Patenier next, while Prud'hon will need to re-establish momentum against Pierro del Cosimo or Picasso. Tough gigs, but when you play at this level it's no ordinary menu.
