The Infinite Art Tournament, Left Bracket Third Round: Piero di Cosimo v. Pollack!

Time for a contest between a Florentine of five hundred years ago and a twentieth century American.  If you enjoy thinking that comparing dissimilar artists is ridiculous, this will be a fun match for you!  Leaving us this week is Francis Picabia, who lost a close one to the Florentine.

Piero di Cosimo
1461ish - 1521
Florentine

Jackson Pollock
1912 - 1956
American
  • Defeated Antonio del Pollaiolo in Round 1.
  • Beat Sigmar Polke by a single vote in Round 2. YOUR VOTE COUNTS!!!
  • Lost to Camille Pissarro in the Round 3 by a single vote. YOUR VOTE COUNTS!!!

Vote for the artist of your choice in the comments, or any other way that works for you. Commentary and links to additional work are welcome. Polls open for at least one month past posting, but likely much longer.

Your headline promises Picasso, but your pictures deliver Pollock.
di Cosimo for my vote.

I don't dislike Pollock, but gee, fractal ballyhoo aside, it seems an awful lot of real estate going to one squiggly little gesture endlessly repeated. Di Cosimo for me.

Piero di Cosimo because it's people and not scribbles.

I like the wacky renaissance of Piero di Cosimo, but will lean slightly to scribbler-extraordinaire Pollack.

A big 20th century name falls, as Piero di Cosimo knocks out Mr. Pollack by a vote of nine to three. Pollack exits at 2-2, while Piero di Cosimo improves to 4-1 going into Third Round Elimination!
