  1. Out of all of those "draws pictures of colored rectangle" artists, Rothko's pretty good! No Albers, but certainly up there! I actually quite like these Rouaults as well, though, so I'll vote for him.

  2. This is a hard decision for me. I've always liked the famous Rothko's, but not too much. Then again, I've never seen them live, which might be prerequisite to really having a strong opinion on him. Reading about him I did come across two pictures I liked: Entrance to Subway and Slow Swirl at the Edge of the Sea. Still, I'll lean towards Roualt's stain glass pictures.

  3. Roualt. Rothko has always left me a little "eh.....whatever", even after seeing them in person.

Nora: I like the second one

Elliott: I hate when people just paint colors and don't actually draw anything. Roualt

  7. I too really like Rothko's early work. I'll pick him over Roualt.

  8. I know people who have wept at Rothko paintings, and I've done my damnedest to feel something when I look at them. Without success, however. Rouault for me.

  9. A Tournament shocker, ladies and gentlemen, a Tournament shocker, as Rouault takes down the well-known Mark Rothko by a single vote! Rouault is going to the Second Round! Rouault is going to the Second Round!!!
