Okay, the most recent Ely's may be finally bringing me to his side... Yeah- Ely.
This is hard, but I say Ely.
Manet.
There are a whopping FOUR (4) first-day Ely votes on the Facebook feed.
Oh, Manet still manages to be surprising to me--one of the Impressionists most difficult to pin down, and maybe for that reason even one of my favorites. But I don't have any particular affinity for him. So, you bet, it feels just slightly preposterous, but I will join the crowd voting for Tim Ely.
I like some of Ely's stuff (bike sprockets!), but I like Manet's stuff better.
I know Manet is Important and Stuff, supposedly helping usher in the Modern Era. But I was always a bit meh. Maybe his stuff seemed more groundbreaking back in the day, but eh. So count me in for Ely.
Manet
Manet.
I'm sort-of surprised Ely doesn't do more for me - I'll go with Manet.
I am surprised to find myself going for Manet in this one. I am also, for anyone taking notes, surprised to find myself surprised.
Susan emails in a vote for Manet.
Five in a row at the end can't save Manet, who falls to the living American in a tight one, nine votes to eight. Your vote counts!
