The Infinite Art Tournament Left Bracket Second-Round Elimination GRUDGE MATCH: Cole v. Amador!

Way back in May 2014 -- which isn't all THAT long ago, I suppose -- "earthscape artist" Andreas Amador (his term) beat "Hudson River School" painter Thomas Cole (Art History term) in the IAT First Round.   Well.  Second Round Elimination is an eddy of the Tournament where artists hoping to remain in contention must often ratify their earlier victory by winning a rematch.  And so it is with Amador and Cole.

Tournament junkies, remember the Grudge Match Rule: Cole has to win outright to stay alive.  In the event of a tie, Amador wins on the strength of his previous victory.

Sir Edwin Landseer gets knocked out of the tournament this week with a record of 1-2 (10-26), and Peter Lanyon goes out as well, also at 1-2 (16-25).

  5. Tom Cole wins the Grudge Match!!! Tom Cole wins the Grudge Match!!! Amador took him down 8-5 back in Round 1, but with more images and a year of sober reflection, this time we've given the famous guy the win. Eight votes to five, as it happens.
