  2. Wow, this is a tough little corner of the bracket. Next match-up Millais or Michelangelo? Ouch. I was at first leaning Millet. Besides being quite the grain, he might be my favorite Barbizonista of the tournament. Those peasants are bad ass! But Miró seems to be creating his own vivid alternate universe where we've all been turned into shapes and squiggles. That's hard to beat. I'll go slightly for Miró.

  4. With proper respect to Millet, I have an unfortunate mental connection of him to grandmotherliness. Not that there's anything wrong with grandmotherliness. Whereas I connect Miro with grooviness. For a few years, Joan Miro was among my favorite female painters of 20th Century Europe!

    So, Miro.

    And yes, I know now.
