Mengs, with a strong feeling of "meh"
Mengs, but in part because I am tired of depressing religious art.
Memling, with a strong feeling of partisanship, and lasting affection for the Flemish Renaissance.
I'll take the 2nd guy because the people look like real people more. I guess that means I rule out all the really, really old painters. That's not fair, is it? Oh well. Art is subjective, right? Give me the 2nd guy. The guy in the final painting looks like such a snobby little punk. He's all impish with his powdered wig and stuff.
Mengs, with a distinct lack of enthusiasm.
Memling
I love both of their first ones here, but love Memling's just a bit more.
Memling
Here's an emailed vote for Memling from Susan.
Memling!
I'll throw in for Memling.
Me too. Memling.
Mengs put up a powerful 4-1 lead early on, but Memling took the last seven votes and survived to paint another day with an 8-4 final. Mengs will have to try his luck against Matta in First Round Elimination.
