The Infinite Art Tournament Left Bracket Third-Round Elimination: Denis v. Braque!

Maurice Denis is the first artist in the Tournament to have piled up four wins in a row after losing in the First Round.  That gets him to today's match, where he takes on his younger contemporary Georges Braque, whose 3-1 record has been carved out quite a ways from his original placement in the brackets due to a vote count error in the early going.

Leaving us are Denis's surprise victim Donatello (2-2; 27 vf, 23 va) and the 16th century Italian Dosso Dossi (2-2; 28 vf, 34 va).

  1. I like them both, but am backing Braque.

  2. I'll go with Denis over cubism's Engels.

  3. I like Denis mostly as the artist that Chuckdaddy's son did a charming, er, study off of. But I like Braque quite a bit more. Him.

  4. Denis put up a good fight in this one, but at the end of the day -- by the middle of March, actually -- Braque had collected seven votes to his five. "Cubism's Engels" moves to the Fourth Round, where he'll meet Caravaggio. At this level, there are no easy matches.
