Infinite Art Tournament, Left Bracket Round Three TIEBREAKER: Avercamp v. Bellows!

Today was going to see the exciting commencement of only the third Left Bracket Round 3 match of the whole tournament, but a surprise tie -- we haven't had any for a while! -- came up in the matter of Bellows v. Brown. Hurrah, an opportunity to unstick the old, old tie between Avercamp and Arcimboldo at the same point in the brackets!

Here is the "top" match of the ensuing tie-breakers.  Bellows and Avercamp have both survived tiebreakers before, but only one of them can survive this one!  Unless they tie, of course.

Hendrick Avercamp
1585-1634
Dutch

George Bellows
1882 - 1925
American

  1. I don't think I've voted for Bellows in any previous match-up, but he gets my vote this time. Except for the boxing painting. I don't like that one very much.

  2. A super-tough call for me. Bellows is kind of a "B" version of Eakins, which is still a high compliment. Avercamp is great, but my earlier joke that he painted Dutch Where's Waldos might have been a bit too accurate. I guess I just find Bellows more interesting. So I'll go with him.

  3. I'm definitely for Bellows here, though I feel like we should throw a skating party for Avercamp whenever he finally leaves the race.

  4. I like that the supplemental tiebreak paintings for each of these guys expand their range. Mr. Iceskating can do a summer scene, and Mr. Pugilism can paint his mom. I like that mom. But I'll go with Avercamp and infinite charm.

  5. At the top of the post, I wrote "Bellows and Avercamp have both survived tiebreakers before, but only one of them can survive this one! Unless they tie, of course."

Bellows and Avercamp have both survived to paint another day! Bellows 7, Avercamp 7.
