  1. A not very enthusiastic vote for de La Tour.

  2. I second Elizabeth's sentiment about de La Tour.

  3. I'm finding this a tough matchup. I love the lady's expression in the first La Tour, but the rest of his feel pretty Caravagio lite. Which is still pretty great. But the Lanyon's are interesting and I think I might really like them if I could see them full size. So... For now I'm going La Tour.

  4. Um, La Tour. Lanyon is not as good as that other guy who did that kind of thing. You know, whatshisname.

  5. I like Lanyon, and am fond of the St. Ives school in general, but I have to vote for the Theatre La Tour.

  6. I'd probably vote for La Tour even if I hadn't run into that card game in Fort Worth last week. And in any event, I did, and the painting is quite charming in real life.

  7. Lanyon for me! Although I can't help feeling that both of those paintings would make more sense sideways

  8. Oh, de la Tour, definitely! The second one is smashing!

  9. A strong start for Mr. de la Tour, as he piles up 10 votes to Lanyon's 2. He'll enter Round 2 this week with momentum on his side!
