ReplyDeleteDefinitely Delacroix.
ReplyDeleteA vote for the book arts, and Gerard David.
ReplyDeleteDavid was pretty amazing for his time, but I'd much rather look at Delacroix, so that's who gets my vote.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, tough one, but David is just more my thing. Delacroix, even in his quieter moments, is just too overwrought.
ReplyDeleteWell, um, huh...er, that is to say, uh, Delacroix.

David (I wonder if you can call him Dutch, considering he moved at age 24 from Holland to Flandres and stayed there his whole profesional life; his style is Flemish Primitive; that city in the painting is Bruges; both Holland and Flandres at that time was part of Habsburg Netherlands): Beautiful, tranquil
Delacroix: Expressive
I lean towards David
