The Infinite Art Tournament, Left Bracket Third Round: Claesz v. Chardin!

Pieter Claesz is not one of the best-known names in the Tournament, but he has sent more famous names packing on his way to the Third Round.  Can he pull off the same trick against Chardin?  Maybe he can!  Chardin isn't invincible.  After all, he's already lost once!  To Cezanne!

Pieter Claesz
1590 - 1661
Dutch

Jean-Baptiste-Siméon Chardin
1699 - 1779
French
  • Crushed American William Merritt Chase in Round 1.
  • Beat Italian Giorgio De Chirico in Round 2.
  • Lost to somebody named Paul Cézanne in Round 3.

Claesz, but not without some deliberation.

I admired Chardin's bubble in a previous round, but that bubble has been burst by Claesz, for whom I am voting in this round.

And here's Chardin for me for the livepeeps and bubblzz, despite that I like the new Claesz image the best of his set.

This is still open, really? Cleasz.

Wow, Claesz goes up 4-1, only to have Chardin run up six straight votes and run away with the contest, 7-5. That's the kind of fine arts excitement you'll only see here in the Infinite Art Tournament!
