  4. Poor Gontcharova--it's hard to compete with van Gogh. He gets my vote.

  6. This is a cruel match, because Goncharova has been a favorite of mine since some of her paintings were in a PAM show on the Russian avant-garde. But against Van Gogh? I have to vote with the press of people standing in front of Starry Night, the last time we were in MOMA.

  11. The problem with Van Gogh is that he's so overplayed that I feel like I'm just looking at postcards. My vote goes to Gontcharova. That last painting of hers is the only one that got me excited.

  12. Only three people were the first to throw a vote to Gontcharova, as opposed to nine for Van Gogh, and the popular Dutchman will advance with momentum into Round Four. Gontcharova is getting a lot of love here, though, so who knows? Maybe she'll win out in the Left Bracket and we'll see them again for the overall championship!
