  1. I do enjoy the jaunty penis in the second work by Giambologna, but I think I like the attenuated solemnity of Giacometti a bit better.

  2. Giacometti is super great and I can't pin down why I think that.

  3. If I was Giambologna, I'd be super pissed to be losing this match. But I agree with the crowd- Giacometti

  4. Nice match up. I'll say Giacometti like everyone else.

  5. Giacometti, definitely.

A few years back I read A Giacometti Portrait by James Lord, which is the story of sitting for a portrait day after day as Giacometti works and reworks and scumbles and agonizes over the painting. Interesting close-up view of artistic process.

  7. Sticky sculpture over smooth sculpture, and anything over depictions of naked men carrying off anguished naked women. I can't stand it, I just can't. Makes me want to drip molten metal all over the marble. Giacometti for me, as well.

  8. Giambologna! Interesting to have two sculptors.

  9. Giacometti's sculptures don't have a lot of musculature, but nevertheless put a beating on Giambologna's robust-looking, classically violent dudes, 10-2. Voting is closed in this one.
