Languished for the better part of a year after the victory was miscalculated as a tie.
Was reintroduced with Braque back into the brackets in the place of the Dobson/Van Doesburg tie, which was actually a tie.
Vote for the two artists of your choice! Votes generally go in the comments, but have been known to arrive by email, by postcard, or in a sealed envelope.
Please note that you may vote only once in each face-off. Opining that both of the artists in one of the two face-offs is superior to the other is fine, but casting your votes for two artists in the same face-off is not permissible.
Denis and Dine!

ReplyDeleteI'm going with Derain over Denis by a nose. And, despite my respect for Dine's printmaking skills, I've got Brancusi giving him the bird by the length of ten giant cartoonish hearts strung end-to-end.
ReplyDeleteDerain on the top, easily. And for the bottom it's tougher, but I'll go Brancusi I think.
ReplyDeleteI struggled with the decision between Denis and Derain, but the happy ladies with strangely-proportioned heads drew me into their garden, so it's Denis this time (though it's freaking cold out today, and the Derain was a big hot sunny Mediterranean temptation). And Brancusi, please.
ReplyDeleteBrancusi for sure! And I'm surprised to find I'm voting against Derain again.
ReplyDeleteDerain and, yes, Brancusi, yes!
ReplyDeleteDenis and Brancusi
ReplyDeleteI like Denis and Derain better than Brancusi and Dine, but I like Denis and Derain about the same and Brancusi and Dine about the same. I'm going to go.... ABSTAIN up top and break for BRANCUSI on the bottom.

ReplyDeleteDerain and Dine
ReplyDeleteI'm changing my abstention to Derain, but that doesn't keep Denis from winning this one 7-6. Dine/Brancusi is still live.
