Ensor
ReplyDeleteEpstein! Look, I voted for a sculptor!
ReplyDeleteJames Ensor! I appreciate the man.
ReplyDeleteEpstein!
ReplyDeleteEpstein
ReplyDeleteOkay, after the novelty of name recognition wore off I think that I'll change my vote to Epstein.
ReplyDeleteWe got to see the second Ensor, Christ's Entry into Brussels, in January. It's gihugic and weird and and spectacular, and it has its own special room at the Getty. I can see where his grotesqueries wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea--though there are pretty colors, along with the cryptic anger--but Belgium's famous painter has my vote.
ReplyDeleteBelgium's famous painter! I wanna dig him up and shake his hand....
ReplyDeleteHaha: DrSchnell's comment. Belgium's famous painter! I'll raise a glass and sit and stare, understand the man.
ReplyDeleteJames Ensor is, I think, an acquired taste. But I've acquired him.
ReplyDeleteEnsor, partially by virtue of not being Epstein.
ReplyDeleteCandida's vote clinches it for Mr. Ensor. If he HAD been Epstein, then he would have got her vote, and therefore... wait, that's confusing.
ReplyDeleteEnsor takes five straight votes to take a 6-4 "great moments in art competition" victory.
