The Wednesday Post
Greetings from Galesburg, mostly!
Not-at-all recent acquisitions in the Boring Postcard collection.
Recent housekeeping uncovered these postcards sent to me, mostly, during the summer of 1999. This is remarkable, as it was not until August of 2004 that I myself discovered that I was interested (if that's the word) in boring postcards. Some people, including the person who sent these, are just naturally ahead of the curve.

BIRTHPLACE OF CARL SANDBURG
POET AND LINCOLN BIOGRAPHER
331 E. THIRD STREET
GALESBURG, ILLINOIS
Carl Sandburg born January 6, 1878.
".....He came to us from the people Lincoln loved because there were so many of them, and through all his life, in verse and prose, he has spoken of and for the people. A great American, we have just reason to be proud that he has lived and written in our time." - Stephen Vincent Benet.
But...
I thought this one was an especially and delightfully odd commercial postcard. On closer inspection, however, it is revealed to be a magazine photograph cut out and glued to a large index card. That, too, it pretty awesome.

There was actually a time when wearing a hideous afghan sideways became a fashion statement and/or sex symbol status marker? I'm sure I was alive then but oh I am glad I was not aware of it.
Hey, I knew someone who went to Knox and now I sorta know what it looked like decades ago. And the handsome knits there ... keep 'em coming!
