Van Dongen. Looking at some of his other works I find the huge eyes a bit disturbing, but I like the paintings overall. Time to get some new blood into the tournament mix.
Normally I like the more realistic and detailed paintings, but I find myself really enjoying Van Dongen. I came to the comments expecting to find myself in the minority, and I was pleasantly surprised!
I'm guessing that what we have with that last vote, dear readers, is Vice-Dork (Southern Division) Chuckdaddy attempting to make the IAT rulebook YET MORE COMPLICATED.
Well, I'll throw in a vote for Dosso Dossi, on the basis of a pretty awesome name, if nothing else (to be fair, I think I lean very slightly in that direction on the basis of the artwork as well, though it's close).
Look! It's the Green Fairy! A mad Green Fairy. Followed by Modern Mona Lisa with Gun!
Oh. It's a fan. Well, I think it would have been more fun with a gun, as I thought it was going to be when I saw it at first with my peripheral vision.
I dunno. Neither is really lighting my fire tonight. I'd vote Van Dongen to throw some variety into my voting, but almost everybody else has already done that, it looks like. And I'd vote for Dosso Dossi because who doesn't like some good Renaissance paintings, except that I'm just not sure about these.
All right. My final vote is based on skimming the image pages for the artists, and it's Dosso Dossi, no contest. ("No contest" is meant figuratively, of course. I'd miss the contest if we didn't have it.)
Van Dongen sweeps it, 13-2, and will be taking on Donatello in a tough second-round match. Dossi will square off against Domenichino in a battle-of-the-badly-beaten.

The men of Dossi vs the women of Dongen. Easily i pick the depth and thought provoking Dongen.
Van Dongen!
I'm not sure what you guys are thinking. The second artist is clearly superior

You'll need to add in a rule "the artists themselves may not vote", or perhaps "the deceased may not vote"
Just what we need, more rules!
Would you accept my vote if it was for that other guy?

Our habitual email voter describes Van Dongen as "heavenly."
I guess it's Van Dongen for me, too.
Van Dongen, the wild beast!
