Although it appears that the mallard duck genome, the most-studied duck genome, has not been fully mapped (Kraus, 2011), the genome of the chicken, a species that one could predict to be genetically similar to the duck due to its shared avian characteristics, has been entirely recorded. A comparison between the chicken genome and the human genome shows a 60% similarity (NIH, 2004). Therefore, we can infer that being a duck is part of 60% of your DNA, give or take.
