The Infinite Art Tournament, Round 2: Clouet v. Cornell!

The bracket was shaken up a bit this week when Cole and Constable, two artists that many voters found somewhat similar, fought to a 7-7 tie.  They will reenter action sometime in 2014 against successful artists from the play-in tournament.

François Clouet
c.1522 - 1572
French

Scraped by living artist Francesco Clemente by a two-vote margin in Round 1. YOUR VOTE COUNTS!!!

-----

Joseph Cornell
1903 - 1972
American

Gutted John Singleton Copley in Round 1.

  2. Cornell, absolutely. Anything to keep me away from the creepy boob ladies. And Cornell is awesome.

  4. Yea, okay, Cornell. Maybe someday he'll go up against Louise Nevelson and we'll have a box art show down?

  6. I really enjoy looking at Clouet's works but in the interest of promoting a more mixed-media matchup here at the IAT (and also because I like Cornell too) I am going for the boxes.

  7. Oops, here's a email vote for Cornell that's been buried in the in-box.

  8. What an easy one! Clouet! He had me at the pomegranate-colored curtains. Sorry, Cornell, but you're obviously safe here.

  10. Candida and Alison swept through late to stem the rout, but Clouet goes down to Cornell by a pretty substantial margin. Cornell will advance to a tough Third Round match; Clouet will advance to a tough Left Bracket match. Hell, they're mostly tough matches.
