Well, this seemed like a toughie. It's actually easier now that I've done a little research, and found that Courbet had been slopping over into my brain's Corot compartments. An understandable filing error, but he made a bit of a mess, and Corot was too mild-mannered to do anything about it. Now that that's sorted out, I'm going with Correggio! If you think he's a little too too with an adoring family scene, he's also got the Loves of Jupiter on his resume. Plus, if you've got a drab dome lying around, he can really animate a bank of clouds.
Corot - I like what he achieves with the radically different color palettes are on those two paintings.
Corot, but I like that Corregio seems to have actually seen a child before and is able to depict one accurately
This is a tough one since I like them both but those suffused landscapes are evoking these intense emotions causing me to go with Carot
Corot for me - Monet rated him the greatest painter of his time and that's good enough for me.
Another for Corot.
This is perhaps the most preposterously overpowered first-round match that we will encounter in this exercise. I will throw for Correggio and just be glad I made this thing double-elimination.
Now I'm waffling.
Here's a vote-by-mail for Corot.
I instinctively lean towards Correggio, though I'm definitely grooving on that greeny, watery, Corot. Ultimately, I'm going to stick with Correggio, though.
It could be called an upset, Corot toppling Correggio 10-4 after rushing out to an early lead. Voting is closed in this pairing.
