  1. Church looks cool. Browsing for more...yes, very cool!

  2. Church. The other artist doesn't have a prayer.

  3. Oh man, Church, no question. Those are great paintings.

  4. I'm going to have to buck the trend and go with Cimabue here. Did you SEE the expressions on those faces?

  5. Church, obviously. Rah rah American artists of the 19th century!!

  6. It's hard for me to vote against Cimabue, whom I'd have to rank as a far more influential artist than Church, and worked in a period I really love. Except that ship against the iceberg is so damn sublime--and so loaded with drama and import, despite its serenity--that I'm going with Church on this one.

  7. I vote Church, as does my sister (who says you should check out Tumblr to get more fans), and my brother-in-law feels that this is like asking if you like soccer or bigs macs more.

  8. Chuck: Is your sister in any way offering to sponsor me for the additional time investment of proceeding on multiple platforms?

Your brother-in-law is being a bit broad; in that "art" is a recognized category of thing, it is much more like asking whether you like soccer or curling more, or whether you like big macs or boiled eggs more. However, I suggest that he would be perfectly capable of articulating a preference between soccer or big macs, if he put his mind to it. (It's easy for me: I don't eat beef, so although I have no particular interest in soccer and it is likely to lose out in future rounds of this hypothetical tournament, soccer definitely wins this pairing.) It is also possible that he is missing the forest for the trees.

  9. I'm with you M MMMMM. I (clearly) have no issues casting my opinion (and would also choose soccer.'But if it was a restaurant burger with bleu cheese and bacon, would probably lean beef).

  10. I've been a little surprised that there haven't been any votes yet on the FB syndication. At some point of course, the whole thing will go viral and I'll have to hire staff.

  11. Church! Though I agree with Nichim about the expressions in Cimabue. Does anybody know what's going on with the feet wrappings of the scourgers, though? They look kind of mummified, but the individual toes are visible --I think the wrapping ends right before the toes--but they're the same grey mummy/zombie color as the wrappings themselves.

  12. An email voter breaks for Church!

  13. I'm voting Church with Mrs.5000, for the same reasons.

  14. Is it too late to vote for Church? Even if it is, I'm voting anyway. Anybody who paints crazy light like that, as well as that amazing seascape gets my vote.

  15. Church - I can't get over how well he paints sky.

  16. A painful defeat for the early Florentine master, as Church whups it up on him 15-1. The expression on his face is, we would assume, pained. We'll see how he does against Claude Lorraine on the left-hand side.

Voting is closed in this pairing.
