Very virtuosic piano playing in what I believe is called the "bop" style. The cat could really find his way around a keyboard. Yet the record doesn't especially move me.
And:
This is some pretty sweet small-ensemble playing. Mobley's saxophone leads are smooth and, yes, soulful, and there is a pleasant upbeat swing to the whole business. Great rhythm section. A very easy record to like.
