Hmm, this is a tough one. I really, really like that turkey painting; the details seem really alive. On the other hand, Bacon's crazy-ghost-pope is one of my favorite paintings from this tournament so far, and the new painting with the... what is that, a walama? Anyway, I like it for reasons I can't put a finger on. I vote for Bacon by a hair, but an Audubon win would be just peachy as well.
So, if there's really 1000 artists, does that mean 24 artists get a first-round bye? To be fair, you'd need 24 more artists... Also, I've noticed there's no seeding...which is fine, if you're only going for champion. Also, any plans for a consolation bracket?
Incidentally, a standard double-elimination consolation bracket would only add 1021 or 1022 bouts to the current 1023*! (*-not counting byes; depending on whether the loser of the championship finals has to play the winner of the consolations for 2nd/3rd place, a practice, which, while more equitable, is not usually used in double-elim tournaments for dramatic reasons)
The screaming cardinal - not the bird - is so awesome I want to vote for Bacon again, but the screaming falcons - the bird this time - are awesome in their own way, plus I really, really don't like those weird penis creatures or their orange backgrounds.
@Voron: I must have missed the post where he said that 1000 artists will be considered. In fact, I think I missed where he explains this whole thing altogether! (The IAT, not the blog, although ... )
Voting in the Infinite Art Tournament? Awesome. And, please be aware that purely anonymous votes are not counted. You don't need to log in or use your real name, but you must identify yourself in some fashion for your vote to count.
Audobon. There's not a Bacon Society, is there? :)
ReplyDelete(Mmmm, bacon!)

ReplyDeleteBacon! I love the macabre. "Seven Daaaaayyys...."
ReplyDeleteSorry, pretty birdies.

Audubon, 100%
ReplyDeleteHuh. Well, I guess I'll go with Bacon. Because it's not about what would look nice in your living room, right?

ReplyDelete@dhkendall- Actually, there's at least two, and one is indeed dedicated to Francis Bacon:

Perhaps a diet of bacon kept the 500 yr old looking so young all the way into the 20th century! ;P

ReplyDeleteSo Audubon it is.
Audubon! And Edward Lear, while we're at it.
ReplyDeleteAudubon.
ReplyDeleteBacon will give me nightmares though.

ReplyDeleteHmm, did my vote not get posted? It's Audubon.
ReplyDeleteAudobon
ReplyDeleteI hate fucking bird pictures. Except for distorted vomiting ones.
ReplyDeleteBACON
This one's really hard for me, but I think I'll come down on the Bacon side.
ReplyDelete@dhkendall- The number of artists is discussed here: http://michael5000.blogspot.com/2011/12/infinite-art-tournament-round-1.html
ReplyDeleteI've got an email-in vote here for "Audubon over ugghy Bacon." Still trying to decide for myself.
ReplyDeleteO.K., I'll go with Audubon by a beak.
ReplyDelete[In the personal tourney, Avercamp easily beats Auerbach.]
Bacon just creeps me out too much. Audubon.
