  1. I really like the books! I vote Beauneveu.

  2. Neither are appealing but I'll go with Beccafumi

  3. I like the both, the Beautiful Nephew and the Smoking Nose. While I'm a great fan of illumination, I think I'll have to vote for Beccafumi for the dreamy faces and the impudent nipple.

  4. OK, like the medieval illuminations a lot, but am smitten by the stagelit annunciation-by-the-sea. So one more for Beccafumi.

  5. Neither of these *really* do it for me. But I'm going with Beccafumi. He's got a lot more complexity and dynamism and general beauty going on, even if it looks like many of his people are airbrushed. Man his style is "soft." I do like his "Fall of the Rebel Angels", especially the sinister looking Deity.

BTW, It looks like Beauneveu was also an accomplished sculptor, so look at some of those works as well.

  6. Beauneveu, this time - though neither do a whole lot for me, either.

  7. Beauneveu. Statues on incongruous architectural chairs, with thorns and words. Love it. Beccafumi is ok, and I like the look the angels are giving each other, but I take off a lot of points for the gratuitous nipple.

  8. OMG illuminations! And I love the contrast between Beauneveu's monochromatic aesthetic for the central figures and their seats and what I think of as the normal brightness of illuminations (not that I'm objecting to how colorful they usually are, assuming my stereotypes are even accurate).

Believe it or not, I hadn't noticed the Beccafumi nipple. I was too busy admiring her feet and the way her sandals aren't quite wide enough in the forefoot. Also, I think she could palm a basketball.

    Beauneveu, s'il vous plait!

  9. Despite the gentle sweetness of the Beccafumi annunciation, I'm going to say it's a slam dunk for Beauneveu in this battle of the (to me) unknowns.
