Your Thursday Boring Postcard from Michael5000

LUPINE IN BIG MEADOW
From late June to early August, a colorful variety of wild-flowers bloom to enhance the high meadows of Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park.

Provenance: Gift of Mrs.5000, Christmas 2010.

  1. Not boring! Lupines (a Monty Python clue was in today's NYT puzzle, BTW) are lovely. It's almost time for the Texas bluebonnets, which are also lupines.

  2. Lupines ARE lovely (though in our garden, prone to mildew if not cut back soon after flowering). However, you have to admit that they are not so lovely when the entire field is out of focus.

  3. My favorite aspect of the photo is the cropping right down to the mountain peaks -- not giving them any sky to rise against really drains the impressiveness right out of 'em.

  4. Lupines? Lupines! I was proposed to in a field of lupines!

  5. When I saw this, I did think, now Vida won't find this boring, what with all the romantic associations! In fact, Vida is to a field of lupines as mrs.5000 is to The Cup and Saucer.

  6. BUT DON'T FORGET TO TALK ABOUT MONEY

  7. Booooring. I vote with boring, yes. It may not be a boring vista. It may be really lovely when you are there. But closeups of the stuff growing on mountainsides make boring postcards.

Next bracket month, can we determine the most boring postcard of all time?

  8. Cup and Saucer? I don't think I know this story! I hope to hear the story at girls ice cream night.
