  20. AND NOW THE SEASON WRAP UP, BABY!!!

There were six scores in the handsome 500 range this time around: Calico Cat, Elizabeth, nichim, Elaine, d, and Ben.

The top six spots were ferociously competitive.

    In 6th: Cartophiliac -- 660.

    In 5th: Mrs.5000 -- 673.

    In 4th: Kadonkakonk -- 688.

Which left very little air left in the room for:

3rd Place Winner DrSchnell, proud new owner of a Powell.com gift card (when I get around to it).

2nd Place Winner la gringissima, proud new owner of, um, a Starbucks card (if I remember right, when I get around to it).

And the overall champion of Season 2 leaps explosively from his 10th-place Season 1 performance. Australia -- they dominate international athletics, and now they have wrested the Wednesday Quiz title from its native soil. Congratulations to Unwise Owl, proud new owner of a year's gold membership on chess.com, official time sink of the L&TM5K.

  27. Hey, isn't the pirating away of the M5K Wednesday Quiz trophy from the US to down under sort of like when the America's Cup in sailing got yoinked from us by those same Aussies back whenever it was and all of a sudden people here got their knickers in a twist about the blow to our national pride when quite frankly most of them don't pay the slightest bit of attention to sailing in normal circumstances but dammit, this is America!
