The Wednesday Quiz -- Season I -- Quiz 2
Really Big Companies
The Wednesday Quiz is a test of knowledge and intuition. Looking up answers or asking your buddy is verboten. Questions about the rules are answered here.
This week's Quiz is an IS IT or ISN'T IT affair, like the Thursday Quizzes of yore. The question is:
Is it, or isn't it, a Fortune 500 company?
The Fortune 500 List, in case you are not a regular reader of the business press, ranks U.S. companies in terms of their gross revenues.
Obviously, I don't expect you to distinguish between the 499th company on the list and the #501 first runner-up. I've picked companies that are in the top 50 to represent companies that ARE on the list.

Elizabeth nailed it. LaMarcus Dandridge, LaGringissima, and DrSchnell did too, but Elizabeth nailed it in such a forceful and executive fashion! She wins first prize for the week: a trip to Hawai'i.
ReplyDeleteBurger King Holdings, Equifax, King Pharmaceuticals, Louisiana-Pacific are all in the 900s on the Fortune index; the others are in the top 25. Wal-Mart Stores was notoriously #1 for several years, but has been replaced in the top spot for now by the traditional winner, ExxonMobil.
Regarding Berkshire Hathaway: I believe what's going on there is that Mr. Buffett's investment enterprise simply owns so MANY companies that, even though they are often relatively small, everything adds up to a really titanic revenue flow. No doubt he could sum it up with a folksy analogy.
Oh crap, I missed the quiz. Oh no I meant, it was nice to see my grandma instead of sitting in front of the computer, yeha that's it.
ReplyDeleteRemember, Calico, it's the best 8 of 12. You can afford to miss a few!
