That means that the Gold and Silver Stars this week go to Dug and DrSchnell, who by an interesting coincidence both attended graduate studies in Geography with me at the University of Kansas back in the early 1990s. How about that.
ReplyDeleteThe TQ LXXXIII Blue Star goes to Decathlon hero Eversaved.
Green Stars go out to la gringissima, mhwitt, Ben, and MJ.
@Eliz: Opera and slug quiz, comin' right up!
ReplyDelete@Reb: Hey! I had a friend who got robbed at MACHETE point in Accra!
@Dug: No, no, no, Burgerville is NOT an African city. You need to go back and look at the compare-and-contrast again.
@Ben: with 11/12 correct, I'm afraid this wasn't a very convincing display of geographic ignorance. Worse luck next time!

If it weren't for No. 5 I'd be feeling pretty smug right now. My year of dropping out/into the world served me well, for instance No. 1 is unforgettable; it's where we were held up at knifepoint twice in one day! And No. 2? I still think of it (particularly Kumasi, Ghana) as the most civilized country in the world.
After reading everyone's comments, I have to defend Accra and, by extension, Ghana. I had a blast there. It's a bummer that some others didn't.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's true that except for the machete incident, I've heard nothing but good about Accra. Which sounds sarcastic, but isn't.
ReplyDeleteHey Michael, if your friend who got mugged at machete point is the same person as my friend who got mugged at machete point (DD), then it wasn't in Accra, it was in JoBerg, I think, but certainly in South Africa.
ReplyDeleteAnd...I can't believe I missed this quiz. I aced it! Just, you know, a week late.
