    3. Nicaragua
    4. Namibia
    5. Nepal
    6. Neverneverland? as in, NO idea.

I was going to say Guatemala for #3. Then I thought, No, maybe this is one of the nefarious, niggling, naughty "theme letter" tests.
    Ooooooo I hates them maps!

  2. 1 Norway
    2 New Zealand
    3 Nicuragua
    4 Nigeria
    5 Nepal
    6 New Guinea

Based entirely on the *one* country I could identify, I'm takin' a stab that it's "countries that start with N" day.

    6. Nauru (the phosphate pile, and the "N" theme gave it away - I use these guys in my class as an example of how short-term bottom-line economic thinking leads to long-term-we're-screwedness (see: mining, strip, and destruction of entire freshwater supply and ruination of topsoil.)

  10. Well, I pretty much have to participate today. One gimme and some guesses.
    1. Norway
    2. New Zealand
    3. Panama
    4. Chad
    5. Nepal
    6. Oh what is the guano island called... not Vanuatu ... not Kiribati... more to the west... shoot, it's just not coming. What's awesome is that an island 2 kilometers across has a "central plateau."

  11. Duh. "N". I just don't pay enough attention to patterns.

  12. 1) One of those Scandinavian Countries - Norway, probably, based on the fact that Oslo is there.
    2) New Zealand
    3) Nicaragua
    4) Not sure - but it's in Africa and probably starts with "N" and is not Nigeria - Maybe Niger?
    5) Nepal
    6) Some South Seas Island - is there a country called Narau?

  13. Nauru, apparently - after reading the rest of the comments I remember the "This American Life" episode.

    6. It is an extremely small island, in the south pacific to guess by its place names. Nice and round. I'll call it Nopo.

    6. Surely a group of islands that comprise a country in the Pacific Ocean whose name starts with an "N". Trouble is I can't think of any. Nassau? But that's a city in Bermuda or the Bahamas I think. Oh well, 5 out of 6 ain't bad.

  21. Well, what we have here is our every-ten-weekly festival of countries that begin with, in this case, N. As follows:

    1. Norway
    2. New Zealand
    3. Nicaragua
    4. Niger
    5. Nepal

The Show-Off Bonus Question was Nauru, Land of Surplus Phosphates.

  23. @Miss Saved: "Seriously, who puts Nauru in a quiz!?": I aim to please.

@Nichim: Are you sure you're not so good at maps? 'cause it says here you won during Countries That Start With E Week, too.

@Morgan: "Norway, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Niger, Nepal, Guam"? If I actually pulled something like that, these people would lynch me.

  24. This is true... it took, what like 7 'countries that all start with the same letter' quizes for me to pick up on the pattern, you switch it up now and well... there would be repercussions.

  25. You avoided my question... I would still like to know what kind of map has Tchad....

    ReplyDelete
  26. I am good at "name five things that start with the letter...," not good at maps.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Now, now, M5000. Lynching would be too GOOD for some people.

I am sure we would come up with something much more creative!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yeah... wasn't thinking, and didn't notice the "N" thing. It would have made finding "Nicaragua" easier, because I couldn't remember whether is was Honduras or Nicaragua.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Tchad is the French spelling of Chad, so "a map that's in French." I too would like to know more about the various maps.
