Remember always the Fundamental Rules of the Thursday Quiz:
1. The Thursday Quiz is a POP quiz. No research, Googling, Wikiing, or use of reference books. Violators will lose their internet privileges. All of them. Permanently.
2. As long as you made it this far, you might as well play. It's not all about winning, you know. It's about using your knowledge and reason and making an educated guess. C'mon! It'll be fun!A Brief History of Art

ReplyDeleteWhen I was working on my answers, my computer spontaneously decided to shut down to install some updates. I suppose I should have paid attention to the sign, but I'm stubborn about ignoring life's little hints sometimes. So. . .

ReplyDeleteGood to get back to a quiz. First one in the new format for me.
Monet, Van Gogh......hope they're in the right order.
ReplyDeleteUnlike the esteemed Mrs. 5000, the antiquities were my favorite.
Does the new format seem to discourage commentary? I see less banter among the contestants today.
ANSWERS
ReplyDelete1: C, Stonehenge, 3000-1600 BCE
2: E, King Tutankhamun's funerary mask, c. 1330 BCE
3 A, The Terracotta Army, c. 210 BCE.
4 H, Giotto, The Lamentation, 1304-1306.
5 I, Bosch, Garden of Earthly Delights, 1505.
6 B, Velazquez, Las Meninas, 1656.
7 J, Gericault, Raft of the Medusa, 1819.
8 G, Van Gogh, Starry Night, 1889.
9 D, Monet, Bridge at Giverny, 1899.
10 F, Johns, Flag, 1954.
So, taking the TQLXIV Gold Star with a perfect sequence is the Business Casual Stag Devil Death Boy himself, Dan! It's Dan's third Star but his first Gold. w00t!
ReplyDeleteThe second and third place finishers only reversed the Monet and the Van Gogh, a tough part of the sequence -- Monet only moved to Giverny late in life, is the deal. La gringissima grabs her fourth Silver Star, and Phineas his fifth Blue.
d, despite "failing miserably," takes home his fourth Green.
Kudos, too, to those who were right on his tail: Fingers, Carto, Mars.5000, Ben, and Eversaved.
....that would be "Mrs.5000."
ReplyDeletewas the Mars.5000 a Fruedian slip!
ReplyDeleteyes! gold star! gold star!
ReplyDelete(easy, Dan. Act like you've been there before)
