The Obligatory Aerial Images Post

When I'm talking on the phone, sometimes I explore the planet on Google Maps. Here's some stuff I've noticed.

The White Horse of Uffington, a prehistoric piece of earth art in sourthern England. Supercool.

The labyrinth by the Avon in Bath, where Mrs.5000 and I sat and ate lunch on our first anniversary, in the rain.

Sun City, Arizona

Gonaives, Haiti -- this is what the typical neighborhood seems to look like.

Gonaives, Haiti -- This was probably supposed to be a park. But....

Everglades City, Florida

Male, the capital of the Indian Ocean island country of Maldives.

Male in context, with the surrounding "suburb" atolls and the international airport.

That's all for today!

@fingers: Glad you liked!

@karma: I sure might! Thanks!

@Karin: Woah, Haiti, indeed. You can find similar slums on Google maps or GoogleEarth around many, many other third world cities, of course.

@in media res: That's 'cause Ladd's is DREAMY!!

@gus: One of my faves as well. Our English friends were kind enough to take us there a few years back, at dusk on a warm August evening. Transcendant.

@gl: Unfortunately, for me it has always been a cold Bath. But that's nothing that hot fish and chips can't remedy.

These are sweet. I know I am going to be exploring that feature more now. Sun City, AZ reminds me of the opening to Weeds. And the tiny huts in Haiti, holy cow.

There are some Indian mounds here in Ohio that I am going to check out this way. Thanks for the inspiration!
