The Thursday Quiz!
The Thursday Quiz is an "Is It or Isn't It" game. From the list of twelve items, your job is to determine whether each IS or ISN'T a true example of the week's category.
Remember always to eschew hubris:
No research, Googling, Wikiing, or use of reference books. The ThursdayThis Week's Category is on a superhuman scale!
Quiz is a POP quiz. Violators will be turned into a swan, or something.

3. Harmonium - Roman god of music and concord
4. Hestia - Greek goddess of the hearth and home
5. Isis - Greek goddess of beginnings, women, and the home
6. Jupiter - Roman god of the sea
7. Loki - Norse trickster god of mischief, strife and fire
8. Minerva - Roman goddess of warriors, poetry, medicine, wisdom, commerce, and music
9. Osiris - Egyptian god of the underworld

11. Quetzalcoatl - Norse god of war and metallurgy
12. Shiva - One of the three (or perhaps of the six, depending on who you ask) aspects of the divine in Hinduism, representing the forces of destruction or transformation.

Aaaand you had to be perfect in today's strong showings to win a star. Fortunately, we had no less than SEVEN (7) perfect entries, forcing me to open a new case of Greens.
ReplyDeleteTaking her third Star ever -- but also her third Star in just four weeks -- the Gold went to night owl Nichim, the first 12/12 score across the finish line. It's her first Gold.
Earning back-to-back Silvers -- the first to pull that trick since Mrs.5000 back in TQXXIX & TQXXX -- gs49 brings home the TQXLII Silver Star. They are his first two stars.
It's a big night for Cartophiliac! Taking his first Blue Star, he completes his set, joining the list of Quiz Legends with one of each color of Star to their names. Respect!
Except -- What's this! Elizabeth takes one of this week's Green Stars, which completes HER set as well! Ladies and Gentlemen, we are inaugerating TWO Quiz Legends this week! More Respect!
Other Greens go to Rex Parker, la gringissima, and Boo. Respect to them, too!
@karma: I thought you might go with "are" and "aren't." I was kind of looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteAlso, wow! Somebody reads the introductory stuff! I'm touched.
@Todd: Oooh, tough break. Anubis is the OTHER Egyptian god of the underworld.
@DrSchnell: Aw, Ganesha is my favorite pantheist deity! How can you not love the Lord of Beginnings?
@La Gringissima: Buddhism is a big tent....
@Phineas: Ooh, bummer... no #10! I appreciated the scandium reference though, and share your appreciation for the word "Quetzlcoatl." When I was in a bowling league in Kansas, our team was called "The Quetzlcoatls." Our Cheer? "Flap! Flap! Hiss! Hiss!"
@KelleyI: Okay, now that's just gross. Albeit funny.
@boo: Eh, who needs an excuse to play "Whiter Shade of Pale" in the classroom. Trip that light fandango!
blast, foiled again...
ReplyDeleteI completely object to the fact that you have to be up late at night to win this thing. Booooo!
ReplyDeleteAnd I am not saying "Boo-urns."
RP
Wow! I'm being BOOED!! I'm so excited!
ReplyDeleteYou know you're a big deal, when the haters show up....

ReplyDelete@Yank: I'll tell you what -- I'll set my alarm for 2:30 every Friday morning and send the answers to you in a personal message. Nothing's too good for my readers.
ReplyDeleteThanks that would really be nice. It would save me the 5-10 minutes I spend on google afterter I finish each quiz.
