The Thursday Quiz!
The Thursday Quiz is an "Is It or Isn't It" game. From the list of twelve items, your job is to determine whether each IS or ISN'T a true example of the week's category.
Remember always the fundamentals:
No research, Googling, Wikiing, or use of reference books. The ThursdayThis Week's Category is far too small to be detected by the naked eye:
Quiz is a POP quiz. Violators will find themselves on the cutting room floor.
The Chemical Elements II
Is it or isn't it a real chemical element?
[Note: If it's an actual element, the chemical symbol and atomic number are real too. If it's NOT an actual element, then obviously I had to make the symbol and number up.]
Post your answers in the comments.1. Beryllium - Be - 4
2. Fluorine - F - 9
3. Bronze - B - 12
4. Argon - Ar - 18
5. Scandium - Sc - 21
6. Laudinum - Ld - 27
7. Nickel - Ni - 28
8. Krypton - Kr - 36
9. Yttrium - Y - 39
10. Byzantium - Bt - 63
11. Platinum - Pt - 78
12. Londinium - Ln - 79
(The first Thursday Quiz on the Chemical Elements was TQVII. Blythe took the Gold.)

So the other day I was at a party with a guy wearing a periodic table of the elements shirt... I'm kinda wishing I'd spent a little more time staring at his chest. But you know, I don't think his wife would have appreciated it... so here goes.

Hmmm, I was warned today's quiz topic might bring back unpleasant memories. Presumably of my performance on Chemical Elements I. But no, I've successfully blocked those out.
1 Shouldn't #4 be something, like, important? And light? Like oxygen, maybe. No.
2 Fluorine? Crazy talk. What is this fluorine you speak of. No.
3 Bronze, an alloy. No.
4 Arrrr, Matey! Yes.
5 Uh, no to Scammium, or Scandahoovium, or whatever you're selling here.
6 It's laudanum that you're taking. No.
7 Nickel. At last another yes!
8 Pocketful of Krypton? Uh, yes? Hey, the memories of not knowing my elements are flooding back!
9 Yttrium. That's ridiculous, sounds like some Norse dragon. Yes.
10 Byzantium, now that sounds plausible. . . Ha! No.
11 Go platinum, yes.
12 Londinium. Isn't that a symphony by Haydnium? Yes.

How many answers can I get wrong before my blogon priviledges are taken away? :(
This is not right. I submit my comment and get "blogger not available" following my phantom entry on Monday. Not my week. Starting over.....minus some already forgotten not-to-witty comments. Oh yeah - "Hated Chemistry, loved the crazy table".

So - circling back - #6 - negative.

This chart is one I would like to study more in a coloring book kind of way. I should know it better. I have a few images saved of cool ones somewheres.
Here goes:
1. Beryllium - Yes
2. Fluorine - Yes (Or, if you said it was wrong because it was misspelled before I corrected it.)
3. Bronze - No.
4. Argon - Yes
5. Scandium - Poor Scandium. It is a lonely element.
6. Laudinum - Nope.
7. Nickel - Yes.
8. Krypton - 'Fraid so.
9. Yttrium - Yes.
10. Byzantium - No way.
11. Platinum - Yes.
12. Londinium - No. If it sounds familiar, it's because this was the Roman name for the city we know and love as "London."
Out of a strong field across the board this week, there was only one perfect 12/12 entry. That goes to Phineas, who starts the Fifth Season out right by bringing the TQXLI Gold Star home to, if memory serves, the Lone Star State. Far from being "lone," however, it is his ~fourth~ Gold Star!
Newcomer gs49 becomes the 51rst L&TM5K Quiz winner by taking the Silver Star.
And Nichim shows that she hasn't really forgotten so much after all by taking the Blue. It is her second Star in TQ play.
Thanks for playing, everyone!
The blue star is actually an alloy.
True. And the "Gold" Star is actually made of Londinium.
