I thought this was easy so there must be some cool tricks involved...
Wow, I was sure this would be a quiz on sports franchises, the 80's music scene, or African geography to put me in my place again post-decathlon. But it turns out I spent a lot of time as a kid helping my little brother with his stamp collection, so it's a piece of cake. 1 Great Britain 2 Japan 3 Soviet Union 4 Hungary 5 Switzerland
1. Great Britain, possibly smelling a rat here. 2. Japan 3. USSR - more trickeration potential here. 4. Hungary 5. Switzerland
OK - in a bold and potentially foolish move, I'm changing #1 to an exotic British territory (thus supporting the 50p). Put me down for St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
1. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, AKA Great Britain, AKA the UK.

3. The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, AKA the USSR.
4. Hungary.
5. Switzerland.
We're going to demand relative perfection today. England isn't the same as the UK* -- it's one of four constituent "countries," for lack of a better word, that make up the UK -- and Russia is certainly a much different beast than the Soviet Union. For those answers, for present purposes: close but no cigar.
* "Great Britain" isn't quite right either, but I'll bow to the convention of its use as a synonym for "United Kingdom."
And, even with said persnickitiness, we have a whopping ELEVEN Exclamation Points going out today, far more than the previous high of seven (MQII, MQXX, MQXV).
Mrs.5000 (sigh. "Hail, Victor!") stays on top of the leaderboard with her third Exclamation Point in a row, bringing her to eleven.
DrSchnell extends his record-breaking run to an unprecidented FIVE E.P.s in a row; he's got eight altogether. Chance bags his eighth as well.
Karmasartre, d, Cartophiliac, and la gringissima all take their fifth Exclamation Point; Rebel grabs her third.
Finally, welcome for their first appearance in the victory parade: Nichim, Jovaliquilts, and newcomer Fool for Paper!
Well done to them, and to all, and especially to those of you who said "England" and "Russia" and are now seething with anger and resentment.
@Chance: DON'T SCARE ME LIKE THAT, DUDE!!! Indeed, I hadn't intended to block out "Nippon," "CCCP," "Magyar," and "Helvetia." I figured that sorting out the less familiar names would be reasonably challenging, especially for people who had just finished a decathlon. It's certainly not MY fault if I have a buncha brainiac readers.
